UCH Practitioners
Our Practitioners play a key role in our spiritual community at Unity Center of the Heights.  They not only hold the space of love and support during our services, particularly during our times of prayer and meditation, but also provide spiritual service to our community.  They are available for prayer and counseling after the Sunday morning service, personal coaching and visitation to members in the hospital, those with health challenges, and to those we haven't seen for awhile.  Their presence and support are a great part of what makes our spiritual community work.

As it says in A Course In Miracles:
"A teacher of God is anyone who chooses to be one.  His qualifications consist solely in this; somehow, somewhere he has made a deliberate choice in which he did not see his interests as apart from someone else's.  Once he has done that, his road is established and his direction is sure.  A light has entered the darkness.  It may be a single light, but that is enough.  He has entered an agreement with God…He has become a bringer of salvation.  He has become a teacher of God." - M1

Get to know a little about our Practitioners by reading below why they entered the program, then come and meet this marvelous group of people in person.

Rev. Susan Haberland Actually, I didn't choose to become a "minister"... I chose to get a PhD in Metaphysics, and the ordination was the first step! I find that practical study in the field of metaphysics helps keep my mind focused on Spirit and leads to helping hear Her better. After completing the Bachelor's program, I find the formal study in Metaphysics from U of M is a superb foundation from which to express and extend my Spiritual Self, and that being a "minister" is a natural extension of that.

Rev. Walter Davis, Ph.D. My decision to pursue degrees in Metaphysical Science came from my desire to learn more and to have an opportunity to be of service to others. In particular, I wanted to participate in the Unity Center of the Heights’ Practitioners program to give something back to a spiritual community that’s given me so much. I believe this service is part of my calling – I’m inspired to serve this community in any capacity I can. It’s an honor and privilege to be part of a group of such wonderful, loving, kind and joyous people.

Rev. Maria Flaherty The opportunity to broaden my spiritual studies through the ministerial program at The University of Metaphysics has been a gift to both my personal and professional life.  It is an honor, a blessing and a privilege to receive ordination in the metaphysical ministry; it is a continually growing expression of my life’s calling to share my divinity through love in service.

Rev. Leslie Gray The reason I became interested in becoming a minister is very simple; I love Reiki.  While I am a licensed independent social worker, my license does not legally allow me to lay hands on others: being a minister does.  Therefore, I became a minister.  I am able to continue with my calling to heal through the practice of Reiki, as well as provide service in whatever ways become available.  Blessings to us all.

Rev. Mary Lou Long When I heard of this program I didn't even hesitate -- it just came to me that I should proceed and work toward a Doctorate in Metaphysics.  I have learned to trust my instincts more and more and trust that Spirit is leading me in the right direction.  I am sure there is a plan for me in the near future to use this title in some area where I will be helping others.

Rev. Karen Schaefer (Serving as our Head Practitioner) I began the studies, not with becoming a minister as the outcome, but to further my spiritual growth and awakening.  However, as I progressed through each lesson, it became clear to me Spirit was guiding me in a direction that I never considered… becoming a Minister. I am grateful and honored my studies has allowed me to become a Practitioner within Unity Center of The Heights.

If you have a desire to participate in our Practitioner Program, please let us know.  As you see, it also serves those who simply have a desire to deepen their knowledge of metaphysics.
We have chosen the course work offered by the University of Metaphysics (U of M) founded by Dr. Paul Masters, a school that has been supporting metaphysical students for over fifty years, as the foundation of our Practitioner Program.  U of M has more churches around the world than Unity and Religious Science combined.  They have a low profile because they are neither a religion nor  a denomination.  Their position is that they will provide the metaphysical training and Spirit will guide the individual in the way He would have them go.  U of M’s most prestigious Doctoral graduate is Rev. Dr. Della Reese of Touched by an Angel.

The Practitioner training will also serve as a support group to assist those who are participating in the metaphysical training that’s offered by the University of Metaphysics. Whether you plan to participate in our Practitioner program or your desire is to simply acquire the quality metaphysical training offered by the University of Metaphysics, this group is for you.
